Ja: Tek y' bundle an' go!

THE government will, by the end of the week, make public the travel plans of former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide who will be moving on to South Africa for temporary asylum.

Meanwhile, the 60 Haitian boat people who should have been repatriated to Haiti over the weekend will be leaving on June 1, Foreign Minister K D Knight told Parliament yesterday.

"I want to inform this Honourable House that we have heard from the Government of South Africa and there is a clear understanding that Mr Aristide will depart from Jamaica to South Africa," Knight said during the sectoral debate. "We are currently engaged in working out the transportation arrangements for smooth transition and, later this week, an announcement will be made as to the date on which Mr Aristide will depart from Jamaica."
