Hti: Aristide's boys arrested on drug charges

Miami, FL, May. 28 (UPI) -- Federal prosecutors in Miami have charged two former Haitian government officials of drug smuggling, The Miami Herald reported Friday.

Arrested were former national Police Chief Jean Nesly Lucien and former anti-drug chief Evintz Brillant. U.S. drug agents said Lucien was arrested Wednesday at his home in Miami's Little Haiti section. Brillant was arrested in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and transported to Miami.

The two join two other Haitian officials who have been arrested since former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was ousted in January.

Lucien and Brillant both made appearances in court Thursday.

U.S. officials said no evidence has been offered in court implicating Aristide.
