St. Kts: Like he eat mountain chicken from Dominica!

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - Pandemonium broke out yesterday at the start of the May Criminal Assizes as a prisoner made a daring leap from the Basseterre High Court building in an apparent bid to obtain freedom from prosecution.

Clifton Bedford, an inmate of Her Majesty's Prison, was seen plummeting from a first floor window at the southern side of the Court House (facing George Street), at around minutes to 10 in the morning.

Although police and prison officials tried to stop him, he managed to jump and land about 40 feet on the ground in front of the C&C supermarket. He could not get far, however, as an ungainly landing caused him to break his left leg.
