TT: Giuliani anti-crime plan may be implemented
Acting Police Commissioner Trevor Paul says the Police Service is looking to implement COMPSTAT, an anti-crime programme proposed by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
“We are in the implementation stage of using the crime control model COMPSTAT,” Paul said, during a press conference at the Police Administration Building on Friday night.
The conference was called to introduce the media to Asst Chief Gerald Darling, of the Miami Police Department.
Last year, Giuliani and his firm offered to assist Government and the business community in reducing the high crime level.
A proposal, which included COMPSTAT, was sent to Minister of National Security Martin Joseph by Michael Hess, senior managing director of Rudy Giuliani and Partners.
Government subsequently rejected the proposal, but Paul said the concept of COMPSTAT was not rejected.
