TT: Two charged for drugs in the diplomatic pouche

Bissoon Boodhai, a Clerk II attached at the High Commission in London as an Accounts Officer, appeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Fourth A Court charged with drug trafficking.

It is alleged that between November 30, 2003 and May 8, 2004 in Trinidad and Tobago and elsewhere, Boodhai conspired together with others to traffic a dangerous drug, namely cocaine.

Charged jointly with Boodhai are Mikah Smith, 31, a Foreign Affairs Ministry employee of Laventille Extension, Morvant, and Kurt Alexis, 26, a Special Reserve Police now attached to Caura Hospital (he was based at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the time of the alleged offence), of Forest Avenue, Cocoyea Village, San Fernando.

The charges stem from the confiscation of cocaine in diplomatic pouches at the Trinidad and Tobago Consulate in New York last month.
