U.S.: President Ronald Reagan in repose

I just saw on Fox News the clip of Nancy Reagan approaching her husband's casket for the first time. Sheppard Smith said it was the first time she had had the opportunity to touch the casket since it left the funeral home.

Mrs. Reagan, with her son and daughter, approached the casket on its bier and she patted it. Then, as if compelled, she very gently rested her head against it. Her grief and pain were palpable.

From looking at her, one knew that it was not the polished wood that she was patting and resting her head on. It was her Ronnie himself; for, now that the end was come, this was the closest she could get to laying her head on her beloved Ronnie's chest after ten years in which he'd been becoming lost to her.

My prayers remain with Mrs. Reagan and her family.
