Caricom's getting serious with Aristide

"Caricom has given Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide two months to provide evidence that he has implemented measures to resolve the political impasse in his country. And, if the embattled leader fails to do so, Haiti may be faced with economic sanctions from the region, Caricom chairman PJ Patterson said on Saturday. "

Well it's high time, you know. THe only regret is that T&T Prime Minister Patrick Manning has ruled out military intervention to get rid of a guy whose term of office has expired. Aristide, the joker, rules by decree! Imagine that! Who else in the Caribbean could get away with that kind of slackness besides Haiti and Cuba?
