George Will's take on the Bush presidency
George Will writes:
"Bush's presidency, which seals his party's coming-to-terms with the need to put strong government in the service of conservative values, is neither a surrender to the liberal agenda nor an armistice in the struggle over whether social policy should emphasize equality or freedom. Rather, it liberates Republicans to adopt reforms in the provision of education, health care and pensions."
It puts a different spin on Bush's spending initiatives. If Will is right, then Rush is right. If both Will and Rush are right, good-bye Democrat Party, hello New Republicans. If Will and Rush are right, then the intelligentsia, the glitterati, the Democrat establishment, and the hoi polloi who delight in calling G.W. Bush "stupid" have been hornswoggled by one of the brightest and cleverest Republican politicians to come down the pike, G. W. Bush himself. Caveat lector: don't judge the man by the GPA.
