PR: Nursing shortage
Many PR nurses, fed up of their $1K monthly salaries, have moved to the mainland U.S. looking for bigger bucks for their skills.
Because of the shortage of available Puerto Rican nurses, the Hospitals Association may hire outside personnel, thus threatening the jobs of local professionals, said Delia Morales, president of the Professional Nursing Association.
Morales said there are 3,000 vacant positions in 60 hospitals because of low salaries. Many Puerto Rican nurses have moved to the U.S. mainland seeking better paying jobs, published reports said.
