T&T: Some things are bigger than feting

The people of Fonrose Village, Rio Claro, abandoned their Carnival plans yesterday to clothe, feed, and build a temporary home for a family whose home was destroyed by fire Monday night.

Hamid Manbodh, 46, his wife, Vashti, 38, and teenage daughters were at the beach when the fire destroyed everything.

He said villagers did not bother to play mas or go to other areas to "see Carnival," choosing instead to help the Manbodhs.

The family slept in their van Monday night by last night they already had a small home.
