T&T: Gabrielle Union takes in T&T Carnival

Hollywood star Gabrielle Union has vowed to return to Trinidad next Carnival with more of her actor friends.

The American actress was a masquerader in “Jungle Fever,” a section of Poison’s Retromania, produced by Island Events and designed by Peter Elias.

Union, along with fellow actor Dorien Wilson of The Parkers fame, spent much of Carnival Tuesday aboard the section’s music truck. They spent the day in the company of local stars such as Machel Montano, Iwer George, Maximus Dan, KMC, Rachel Price, Onika Bostic, as well as Barbados’ Timmy and Rupee.

Junko, the Japanese Powerpuff girl and her entourage made an appearance later in the day.

Union, who at times complained jokingly that she was not fit, said she was blown away by Carnival.

“It’s amazing. It’s like nothing I’ve ever been to. It’s an amazing celebration,” she said.

She said although it was not part of her culture, she felt as though it was a celebration of black people.
