Bdos: Who needs new blood?

THE CARIBBEAN Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) could soon face a shutdown if a reported plan to appoint a Canadian national to the vacant post of deputy general manager is carried out.

Reliable sources told the DAILY NATION yesterday that the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), over the weekend, served notice on CBC of its intention to take industrial action following a meeting with staff last Friday to discuss the controversial proposed appointment.

When contacted, BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman said: “CBC is aware of the position of the Barbados Workers’ Union in the matter where there is supersession by CBC of people who have worked for many years at the company, and who are entitled to fill a position which was always reserved for locals who have worked at CBC.
