TT: Shaming the Roman Church

A Roman Catholic priest accused of rape has been released on $60,000 bail. The 38-year-old priest surrendered to police yesterday, after he was told that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Magistrate’s Court charged with rape and sexual assault.
...
When the priest was brought out to the prisoners’ dock, he glanced nervously at the media.
...
The accused is not Trinidadian, has a three-year contract with the Church and has been in T&T since September.
Men like this one continue to bring the Roman Church and all the Church into disrepute. The Church of Rome would do well to dispense with its unnatural requirement of celibacy and permit priests to marry. As Paul rightly said, it is better to marry than to burn.
