Vzla: Boo hoo! U.S. not a friend

The Office of the Vice President: Executive Vice President of the Republic, Jose Vicente Rangel, deploring the statements of Roger Noriega, US Adjunct Subsecretary of State for Latin America, considers it contradictory that the United States forms part of the Group of Friends, one of the six countries that were constituted to aid Venezuela in the presidential recall referendum process.

“This leads me to say that the United States is disqualified beginning at this moment to form a part of the Group of Friends. We won’t recognize the US as a friend of Venezuela until there is a rectification. We demand that the United States government and the Department of State rectify what was said by Mr. Noriega. If they do not, we can’t trust the good faith of a country that forms part of a group of friends when they make the kinds of statements that are injurious to national dignity,” responded Vice President Rangel.
