Cao: Health care cost cutting

ARUBA – The Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital starts on actions in cutting costs in the healthcare on short- and long term.  On the one hand they are taking measures concerning the personnel and the work processes in the hospital, and on the other hand they will take some actions that would have consequences for the patient, but that would not endanger the quality of the healthcare.

Furthermore, the hospital is of the opinion that it is very important to have a deliberation with the AZV as soon as possible, in order to determine the kind of healthcare quality that is expected from the hospital.  This way, they would be able to agree on payments to the hospital.  The hospital’s financial situation is already critical.  The cost cutting actions that affect the patients are the discontinuation of free of charge supplying of a few articles for personal care.  Another new measure is the replacing of all disposable cups and utensils for glass- and earthenware and metal.
