Ja: Guarding the guards

RESOURCE GROUP Seven, a self-declared resource support group of the People's National Party, has written to the Minister of National Security, Dr. Peter Phillips, and the Minister of Justice, Mr. A.J. Nicholson, requesting that a core team of foreign investigators be permanently stationed here in Jamaica, while having a standing arrangement for other investigators to be on call, for the sole purpose to professionally and independently investigate all future cases of questionable police killings.
The group feels that "negligence, indifference and unprofessional work" created the circumstances for a policeman to be recently acquitted for the alleged murder of Janice Allen, a 13-year-old girl, some four year ago.
Finally, somebody wants to hold the feet of police to the fire. For some, the uniform and the badge is an excuse to brutalize and kill. These few taint the sterling reputation of the many.
