T&T: Call centers ignore RIC

DESPITE A $60,000 penalty hanging over operators' heads for each day that international call centres across Trinidad and Tobago remain open, the centres plan on staying open because "we have made an investment in good faith..."

Spokesperson for International Call Centres, Michael Harris, said yesterday: "We have consulted attorneys-at-law and they have advised that the decision of the Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) is wrong in law. We have been further advised by our attorneys-at-law that several legal options are available to us to bring redress to our situation and we are assiduously pursuing those options. In the interim, the calling centres will continue to be open to the public."
