DR: You know things really brown when you can't win at home

All throughout his presidency, President Hipolito Mejia has proudly touted the fact that he is from Gurabo, a small town north of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. This time around, however, Gurabo voted for Fernandez, who won with 46% compared to 36% for Mejia and 15% for Estrella. In the province of Santiago, the PLD won with 55%, followed by the PRD with 29% and the PRSC with 15%. Eduardo Estrella of the PRSC is also a native of Santiago.

Diario Libre also reports how Mejia lost in his very neighborhood. At his voting station, No. 182A, Mejia received 33 votes, compared to 99 for the PLD and 4 for the PRSC.
