St. Kts: Juror intimidation alive and well

Police have arrested and formally charged Vincent Maynard alias "Baldhead" of Prickley Pear, Basseterre, with using threatening language to a juror. He was picked up on Wednesday night.

Vincent is the brother of Nardis Maynard, who, last Wednesday, was convicted of the 22 March 2003 murder of Ernest Henry of Cayon.

He appeared before the Magistrate's Court on Thursday and was granted bail in the amount of $1,000 with two sureties to reappear in court on 9 Aug.

The conditions of his bail disallow him from having any contact with the juror and must keep at least 100 feet from the individual.

According to reports from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Maynard allegedly threatened one of the jurors empanelled for his brother's case.

The incident happened in Independence Square just outside the Basseterre High Court, following his brother's guilty verdict.
