Atg: Dominica screwed Taiwan for relationship with China

The newly-established relationship between the Commonwealth of Dominica and People's Republic of China continues to look promising, a top foreign affairs official said Tuesday.

Dominica's Permanent-Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Marketing Steve Ferrol said this during a press conference at the end of the one-day China-Caribbean Consultation Mechanism held at the City View Hotel.

In March, Dominica cut 20-year old ties with Taiwan and initiated diplomatic relations with China, thus embracing the One-China policy.

Ferrol said his country was very encouraged with the developments between Dominica and China, adding that the Chinese embassy was formally opened yesterday and Vice Foreign Minister of China Zhou Wenzhong would be a part of the process.
