Atg: Saving China

Vice Foreign Minister of the People's Republic Zhou Wenzhong has hailed the second China-Caribbean Consultation Mechanism as "a complete success."

The one-day meeting held Tuesday at the City View Hotel was a follow-up to the first consultation held in NY in 2002 between China and eight Caribbean countries.

The meeting was attended by senior Caribbean foreign affairs officials, including Dominica, which recently initiated diplomatic relations with China.

"This round of consultations has turned out to be a complete success," Zhou said. "We had a good exchange of views of mutual concern. We have reviewed the progress that we have made following the first round of consultations and we explored possibilities of operating in other areas in the future."
