A 32-year-old taxi driver of Foulis, East Coast Demerara is now in police custody after he claimed he was hijacked, ordered to drive in several directions, then blindfolded and taken to a shop in Albouystown to drink rum and smoke cocaine.

Seenarine Persaud told the story yesterday afternoon after apparently jamming his employer's car against a lamppost in Haslington, East Coast Demerara and damaging a door.

Ranks at the Ruimveldt Police Station last evening placed the man in the Brickdam lock-ups after they found it hard to believe his story. Relatives and friends and the owner of Vick's Taxi Service located at Enmore were not allowed to speak to the man.

Sounds like he got kidnapped by the original good-time gang.
